Landeskog talks Avalanche's success, captaincy

Colorado Avalanche center Gabriel Landeskog joined NHL Live to discuss the remarkable season it's been in Denver. At 51-21-7, the Avalanche are two points behind the Central Division-leading St. Louis Blues and 7-0-1 in their past eight games.

"We're certainly feeling how the playoffs are coming closer every day," Landeskog said. "We know that these last games are important, though. We know we have a lot to play for, still, and certainly want to finish off the right way before going into the playoffs.

"We know what's at skate here and know what we can possibly do. If we can grab that No. 1 seed, and see St. Louis and Chicago play in the first round, that would absolutely be ideal."

Landeskog is second on the Avalanche in goals (26) and points (65) with a team-high plus-25 rating. He has nine points (five goals, four assists) in his past eight games.

While serving as Avalanche captain, Landeskog believes he's evolved in a number of ways.

"I feel like I've grown as a person and as a player," Landeskog said. "I think it's something that I said from day one that it would take some time and it was something I was going to grow into. I've tried to do my best to kind of stay patient, stay with it and focus on my game, and play well and play hard, and then things would come into its own."
