Forwards Elias, Henrique, Josefson out for Devils

New Jersey Devils forwards Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson, who all left the game Friday against the Washington Capitals because of injury, won't be in the lineup Saturday at the Carolina Hurricanes.

None of the injured players made the trip. They will be replaced in the lineup by forwards Steve Bernier, Tim Sestito and Stephen Gionta. Bernier and Sestito were healthy scratches Friday, and Gionta will be returning from an ankle sprain that sidelined him the past three games.

Defenseman Jon Merrill, who suffered a bruised cheekbone and had several teeth loosened when he took a puck to the face on March 29 against the New York Islanders and hasn't played since, will take the warm-up and is a possibility to return.

Cory Schneider will make his third straight start for the Devils, who begin the night three points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the Eastern Conference's second wild-card spot. The Toronto Maple Leafs, who are one point behind the Blue Jackets, play Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.

Carolina could have forwards Drayson Bowman (illness), Jiri Tlusty (upper body) and Alexander Semin (illness) back in the lineup after each participated in the morning skate, according to the News & Observer. Goalie Anton Khudobin is likely to start.
