Doughty out for Kings against Canucks; Sedin in

VANCOUVER -- The Los Angeles Kings will not have defenseman Drew Doughty in the lineup Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks, who will have captain Henrik Sedin.

Doughty, the Kings' ice-time leader, sustained a shoulder injury against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday and didn't join his teammates for a second straight day Saturday.

"Day-to-day," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. "We don't play until Wednesday and we just finished 10 [games] in 17 [days], so we'll try and get everybody ready for Wednesday."

Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr also is expected to rest against the Canucks, with Willie Mitchell returning after sitting out against the Sharks. That means defenseman Andrew Campbell, called up late Friday, will play his first NHL game after six seasons in the American Hockey League.

"I kind of got a shiver right down my body," Campbell, 26, said of being told by Sutter before the morning skate that he would be playing. "It was like, 'Wow, this is going to be the night.'"

Campbell, who was picked by the Kings at No. 74 in the 2008 NHL Draft, is captain of the Manchester Monarchs. He said he wasn't sure if his parents would be able to get to Vancouver from their home in Ontario in time to see his debut.

"You have those moments, the season gets long and you wonder if you are ever going to get your chance," Campbell said. "But I like to keep a positive outlook and I still held onto that dream."

Sedin, the Canucks' leading scorer, will return after missing four games with a knee injury, but not to his familiar spot alongside twin brother Daniel Sedin.

Daniel will remain on the left side of a line with center Ryan Kesler and Alexandre Burrows for a second straight game, something Henrik said understands after watching that line's first game together.

"Daniel played maybe his best game of the year," said Henrik, who will play between left wing Chris Higgins and rookie right wing Nicklas Jensen. "It was fun to watch him being back to like he used to."

Daniel had one assist in that 3-1 loss against the New York Rangers on Tuesday, and has one goal and two assists in his past four games after going 13 games without a point. Henrik, who had five assists in four games before the injury after one goal and no assists in the previous 15, said he and Daniel are trying to be more assertive offensively.

"It's the feeling that when you get the puck you are trying things, not just playing it safe," Henrik said. "Try to beat guys 1-on-1."
