Lupul returns for Maple Leafs; Kane sits for Jets

TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets will have notable lineup changes when they play at Air Canada Centre on Saturday night.

Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul took line rushes during warmups and will return to the lineup. Lupul missed the game Thursday against the Boston Bruins with a lower-body injury; Jerry D'Amigo will be scratched to make room for him.

Jets forward Evander Kane did not take warmups and will be a healthy scratch. Jets coach Paul Maurice told CBC's Hockey Night in Canada before the start of the game that "it was just a coach's decision" to sit Kane.

Kane has 17 goals and 22 assists this season in 60 games, but has two goals and eight assists since the 2014 Sochi Olympic break, a span of 18 games.

Devin Setoguchi will take his place in the lineup and will start on a line with Eric O'Dell and Matt Halischuk.

Quote of the Day

For six months, it's a really good accomplishment. But as soon as April [11, the end of the regular season] comes around, no one thinks about the regular season anymore. For six months, it's a real battle to get into the playoffs in the NHL these days. There are a lot of good teams, and it takes consistency over a long time.
