Guelph's Fabbri, Oshawa's Appleby honored by OHL

Two prospects for the 2014 NHL Draft were honored Thursday by the Ontario Hockey League.

Guelph Storm forward Robert Fabbri was named OHL Player of the Month for February, and the Oshawa Generals' Ken Appleby was named the league's goaltender of the month.

Fabbri had 11 goals, 12 assists and a plus-9 rating for Guelph in 12 February games. He had at least two points in nine of the 12 games, including a four-point game Feb. 21 against the Windsor Spitfires.

The 5-10.25, 170-pound center is No. 25 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking of the top North American forwards eligible for the 2014 draft.

For the season, Fabbri is tied for fourth in the OHL with 42 goals, and also has 81 points and a plus-41 rating in 53 games.

Appleby was named the league's top goalie in February after he went 6-1-1 with a 1.63 goals-against average, .943 save percentage and two shutouts in eight games last month.

The 6-foot-4.25, 207-pounder is No. 33 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking of North American goaltenders for the 2014 draft.

In 21 games this season Appleby is 11-5-3 with a 2.47 GAA, .921 save percentage and three shutouts.
