Penguins acquire forward Goc from Panthers

The Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday acquired forward Marcel Goc from the Florida Panthers for two draft picks.

Goc is tied for fourth on the Panthers this season with 11 goals and has 23 points in 62 games.

A first-round pick (No. 20) of the San Jose Sharks in the 2001 NHL Draft, the 30-year-old has 72 goals and 177 points in 550 games with the Sharks, Nashville Predators and Panthers.

The Panthers will receive a third-round and fifth-round pick in exchange for Goc.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
