Oilers to dress college goaltender as backup

The Edmonton Oilers will dress University of Alberta goaltender Kurtis Mucha as the backup to Ben Scrivens when they host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

Mucha is doing his second tour of duty with an NHL team this season; he filled in for the Boston Bruins during their practice in Edmonton.

Mucha was named a Canada West Second-Team All-Star after posting a 14-1-1 record, as well as the second-best goals against average (1.87) in the country. He also had three shutouts and a .909 save percentage. A year earlier, he was named goaltender of the year in Canadian college hockey.

The Oilers traded Ilya Bryzgalov to the Minnesota Wild and acquired Viktor Fasth from the Anaheim Ducks earlier Tuesday, but Fasth will not be able to get to Edmonton in time for the game.
