Slovenia D-man suspended for game vs. U.S.

Sabahudin Kovacevic will miss Slovenia's Group A game against the United States on Sunday after receiving a one-game suspension from the Olympic Men’s Tournament Disciplinary Panel for an elbow to the head and neck area of Slovakia forward Tomas Kopecky on Saturday.

After reviewing the play, in which the players collided in front of the Slovak goal, the panel determined that Kovacevic, a defenseman, extended and directed his elbow to contact the head and neck area of Kopecky, who had to leave the ice and did not return.

No penalty was called on the play. Kovacevic finished with 22:56 of ice time in Slovenia's 3-1 victory, the first Olympic hockey win in its history.
