Ducks defenseman Fowler 'honored' to play in Olympics

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler joined NHL Live to talk about his outstanding season and playing for the United States at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

"I'm obviously just very honored and humbled to be a part of that team and be a part of that experience," Fowler said. "I'm really just looking forward to getting over there and getting to know the guys, and getting to know the systems and the coaching staff. I'm sure when that first game comes there will be definitely some butterflies, but I think those will go away after a couple of shifts. Really just pure excitement and I'm really looking forward to getting over there."

Fowler leads Anaheim defensemen in scoring with 30 points and is one just three Ducks to play in every game this season (59). His game has blossomed under the tutelage of Ducks assistant coach and Hockey Hall of Fame member Scott Niedermayer.

"We're so lucky to have a guy like that who's around constantly and who obviously has so much knowledge about the game," Fowler said. "I certainly do talk to him any chance I get. He's a pretty soft-spoken, quiet guy, but he has a lot of knowledge he can share with us."
