When the New York Islanders close out a home-and-home series against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, goaltender Anders Nilsson will make his first NHL start in more than a month. He last suited up for the Islanders on Dec. 9 in a 5-2 road loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Nilsson was reassigned to the American Hockey League in December when Evgeni Nabokov returned from an injury and went 2-6-1 since going back to Bridgeport. He was brought back up Jan. 6 after Nabokov sustained a lower-body injury against the Dallas Stars
Kevin Poulin has since tended the crease in every game, going 5-2-0. He will get a rest Monday against Philadelphia. Ray Emery will get the start in net for the Flyers.
