Ducks' Getzlaf good to go despite facial injury

NEWARK, N.J. -- Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf will be in the lineup Friday against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center despite not participating in the morning skate.

Getzlaf was receiving treatment stemming from the facial injury he sustained Tuesday, when he went face-first into the corner boards thanks to a shove by Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey, who was called for boarding and issued a game misconduct.

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed Getzlaf will not miss any time because of his facial injury.

"I wasn't nervous when he went in [to the boards] until I saw his face when he came out," Boudreau said of Getzlaf, who was bleeding after making contact with the boards. "He's a very tough player. He doesn't stay down because of injury. When he's along the boards or getting hit I have a lot of faith that he's old-school tough."

The Ducks will have two changes to their lineup from the game Tuesday. Tim Jackman will replace Matt Beleskey at forward, and Mark Fistric will play for Sami Vatanen on defense.

Jackman was scratched the past two games, and Fistric missed three straight games with an upper-body injury. Beleskey played in the past 14 games, and Vatanen played in 11 straight.

Goalie Jonas Hiller is expected to make his fifth consecutive start.

Here is the Ducks' expected lineup:

Dustin Penner - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry

Daniel Winnik - Mathieu Perreault - Teemu Selanne

Andrew Cogliano - Saku Koivu - Jakob Silfverberg

Kyle Palmieri - Nick Bonino - Tim Jackman

Cam Fowler - Ben Lovejoy

Bryan Allen - Francois Beauchemin

Mark Fistric - Hampus Lindholm

Jonas Hiller

Frederik Andersen

Scratched: Patrick Maroon, Matt Beleskey, Sami Vatanen

Injured: Luca Sbisa (hand), Viktor Fasth (muscle inflammation), Sheldon Souray (wrist)

Quote of the Day

I don't know how he does it. I don't know how he gets his body parallel with the player and pulls it through his legs like that. I know he's tried it a couple times in practice and it's never worked, so how he does it in a game, it's incredible.
