The Calgary Flames will start Karri Ramo in goal for the second consecutive game Sunday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Ramo stopped 27 shots in the Flames' 2-1 overtime victory against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
Ramo has 131 saves on 138 shots in his past six games. He is 4-1 in his past five, allowing only a goal in each of his victories. For the season he is 6-5-1 with a .907 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average in 14 games.
"It's a progression rather than a change," coach Bob Hartley told the Flames' official website. "I think for him, it was important that he got a feel back for the league, size of the rinks, the shooters.
"We have two great students in net. They work very hard with [goalie coach] Clint [Malarchuk], they watch tape, they look at other team's lineup, they work on the ice. It's nice. Plus I think our total team game is getting better also."
A win against the Rangers -- 1-7-1 in their past nine home games -- will give the Flames their fourth straight victory on the road, which would be their longest winning streak since a six-game run from Feb. 12-Mar. 5, 2009.
Here is the projected Flames' lineup:
Mike Cammalleri - Matt Stajan - Lee Stempniak
Curtis Glencross - Sean Monahan - Jiri Hudler
Paul Byron - Mikael Backlund - David Jones
Blair Jones - Joe Colborne - Brian McGrattan
Scratched: TJ Galiardi
Injured: Dennis Wideman (broken hand)
