Canada sets lineup against CIS Selects

TORONTO – Canada Under-20 national team coach Brent Sutter used an exhibition Saturday against the CIS Toronto Selects to try to figure out what his roster and lines will look like when the team leaves Sunday evening for Malmo, Sweden, site of the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Sutter scratched Jonathan Drouin, Bo Horvat, John Morrissey, Nic Petan and Griffin Reinhart for the game. Drouin was unavailable as he is still dealing with a concussion suffered eight days ago.

Connor McDavid, the 16-year-old prodigy, was given a high profile, playing center on a line with Hunter Shinkaruk and Sam Reinhart. Meanwhile, Aaron Ekblad, the 17-year-old defender, played with Adam Pelech.

Here is how Canada looked at the start of the game:

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
