Fleury in net back-to-back for Penguins

NEWARK, N.J. -- Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury will be back in the net Saturday against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.

Fleury made 17 saves in a 4-1 win against the Nashville Predators on Friday at Consol Energy Center.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said he's going with Fleury on back-to-back nights because his workload hasn't been too heavy despite the fact he's started four straight games and 16 of 19 the Penguins have played this season.

Fleury has an 11-5-0 record with a 2.00 goals-against average and .922 save percentage. He has the 17th most saves in the NHL and is tied for fifth in starts and sixth in appearances.

"We've given up five scoring chances, seven scoring chances, and going back to the Columbus game [Nov. 2] only four scoring chances," Bylsma said. "That really has played into some of the decisions. We're going to see [backup Jeff] Zatkoff play some games here because of the number of games, but we really felt like this is a good opportunity to get Marc-Andre in back-to-back situations."

Fleury will face Martin Brodeur, who watched when Cory Schneider made 19 saves in a 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday. The Devils have struggled to score when Schneider is in net (10 goals in his nine starts), but they have 28 goals in Brodeur's 10 starts.

coach Peter DeBoer shot down the idea that the Devils score more when Brodeur is in net because he's a better puck-handler than Schneider.

"I think Marty's stick-handling helps us defensively more than offensively in that it takes away the other team's forecheck," DeBoer said. "I don't think it's as simple as Marty is in there and we score goals because he handles the puck if that's what you're insinuating.

"There's no doubt he's the best in the business and definitely when he's in the net he helps us in that area, but I don't have an explanation why we don't score or haven't scored with Cory in net. I look at chances, the guys I think have worked their [butts] off to score and get him a win. It just hasn't happened."

Bylsma said the Penguins recalled Zach Sill from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League but would not confirm if Sill will be in the lineup against New Jersey.
