Nylander's goal lifts Sweden past U.S. at Four Nations

William Nylander, a top prospect for the 2014 NHL Draft, scored the game-winning goal at 11:49 of the third period to give Sweden a 3-2 win against the United States at the 2013 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament, being held in Turku, Finland.

With Sweden skating on a 5-on-3 power play, Nylander beat U.S. goalie Edwin Minney.

Nylander, who plays for Rogle in Sweden's second division, earned an "A" rating from NHL Central Scouting in its preliminary list of players to watch for the 2014 draft. He is the son of former NHL center Michael Nylander.

Nylander's goal came after Jack Eichel's second goal of the game tied things at 8:11 of the third. Eichel, who plays for the United States National Team Development Program's under-18 team, also had a power-play goal in the second period. He is eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft.

Minney, a teammate with the USNTDP, made 25 saves. He earned a "B" rating from Central Scouting.

"Overall the team played very well and dominated most of the game, but the 5-on-3 goal in the third period proved costly," U.S. coach Danton Cole said. "We'll get right back to work, regroup and focus on [Saturday's] game against Finland."

The United States plays Finland on Saturday in the second day of the four-team tournament. They play Switzerland on Sunday.
