Selanne sits out for Ducks against Senators

OTTAWA -- Teemu Selanne was a scratch for the Anaheim Ducks' game against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Friday.

Selanne, who played in Anaheim's 4-1 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, is not expected to play games on consecutive days this season. He is four games shy of his 1,400th regular-season NHL game.

Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen made his first career start. He made his NHL debut Sunday with a win in relief of Jonas Hiller.

Quote of the Day

That's a really tough thing to play through; when you finally are thrown out there, the game is fast, intense, every single play matters, you've got to find a way to play through that and make smart plays. So it's a huge testament to [Vermette] and some other individuals in our locker room that are putting their own ego, their own wants and needs aside, and are ready for those opportunities when they do come.
