Rangers recall Missiaen to serve as backup goalie

The New York Rangers on Thursday recalled goaltender Jason Missiaen from their American Hockey League team, the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Missiaen will back up Cam Talbot for the Rangers' game Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Regular goalie Henrik Lundqvist will sit out with an undisclosed injury the team has classified as minor.

Missiaen, 23, is 1-1-0 with a 3.54 goals-against average and .875 save percentage in two AHL games this season. A 2008 fourth-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens (No. 116), Missiaen has yet to play an NHL game in three professional seasons.

Quote of the Day

I came into a team that had 65 points, that was at the bottom of the basement, a team that everybody wrote off as never going to be good. My goal is to go from the very bottom to the very top.
