The Chicago Blackhawks announced late Friday that they have recalled forward Brandon Pirri from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. The team also assigned forward Jimmy Hayes to their AHL affiliate.
A second-round pick (No. 59) in 2009, Pirri led the IceHogs in scoring last season, recording 75 points in 78 games. In seven career games with the Blackhawks, he has recorded no goals and two assists. He was expected to compete in training camp for the team's second-line center job, but was sent down by Chicago just days before the start of the season.
The 6-foot-6, 221-pound Hayes played in two games to start the 2013-14 season, recording no points and one shot. In 43 career games with Chicago, he has six goals and 13 points.
It seems like I'm kind of making it a little difficult on myself here the last two games.
