Islanders pare roster by seven

The New York Islanders on Saturday loaned three players to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and released four others from tryout agreements.

Forward Jason Clark, along with defensemen Marc Cantin and Andrey Pedan have been loaned to Bridgeport. Forward Greg Miller and defensemen Mike Dalhuisen and Mike Keenan have been released from their amateur tryout agreements, while defenseman Dallas Jackson was released from his professional tryout agreement. All seven players will report to the Sound Tigers' training camp, which continues Tuesday.

Clark, 21, recorded two assists in eight games with Bridgeport last season and had two goals and nine points in 24 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL. The native of Eden Prairie, Minn., was selected by the Islanders in the third round (No. 82) of the 2010 NHL Draft.

Cantin, 23, appeared in 22 games with the Sound Tigers and six games with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers last season. He was acquired in a trade with the Boston Bruins on Feb. 27, 2012.

Pedan, 20, posted career highs in goals (14) and points (44) last season with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League. The Islanders' third-round pick (No. 63) in the 2011 NHL Draft made his professional debut with Bridgeport at the conclusion of his junior season and had two assists in eight games.

New York concludes its preseason Sunday against the Ottawa Senators.
