Nicklaus to drop first puck for Blue Jackets' opener

Jack Nicklaus, golf's all-time leader in major championship victories, will drop the ceremonial first pick for the Columbus Blue Jackets' opening game against the Calgary Flames on Oct. 4.

Nicklaus, a Columbus native, owns 73 official PGA Tour victories, including a record 18 major championships. He will be on hand following the conclusion of the second day of play at the 2013 Presidents Cup tournament, which is being held at Nicklas' Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

Quote of the Day

This is a big year for us in a lot of ways. You can see Garth and management really trying to find that solution to get us into the playoffs and consistently have that. The pressure is great. You have to enjoy it. It just means there's a great opportunity ahead of you.

— Islanders captain John Tavares
