The Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday sent defenseman Chris Bigras to his junior team, the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.
Bigras, a 2013 second-round (No. 32) draft pick, had an impressive training camp in making a surprise bid for an opening-night roster spot.
"There's nothing I didn't like [about his play]," Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said following the team's 2-1 preseason loss to the Washington Capitals on Sept. 18. "Even when he was in trouble, he found a way to get back. He's pretty amazing. I'm overwhelmed by him right now."
Bigras had an assist and a plus-1 rating in two preseason games.
The Avalanche also sent center Paul Carey to their American Hockey League team, the Lake Erie Monsters.
