Penguins send goalie Hartzell to minors

The Pittsburgh Penguins reduced their roster to 43 players by sending goaltender Eric Hartzell to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Hartzell played in one preseason game, stopping all four shots he faced in relief of Tomas Vokoun on Sept. 16.

Hartzell, 24, signed with the Penguins out of Quinnipiac University and is entering his first professional season.
