Anaheim Ducks defenseman Luca Sbisa is out two weeks with a sprained ankle, the team annouced Thursday.
He sustained the injury Monday in the preseason opener against the Phoenix Coyotes. Sbisa played 18 minutes and had a team-leading five hits.
The 23-year-old, entering his sixth NHL season, had eight points in 41 games last season with an even rating.
Defenseman Francois Beauchemin is recovering from a knee injury and could play a preseason game, coach Bruce Boudreau said, according to the Orange County Register. Beauchemin then would be available to play in the season opener Oct. 2 against the Colorado Avalanche.
