Maple Leafs send Biggs, Blacker to AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday sent forward Tyler Biggs and defenseman Jesse Blacker to the Toronto Marlies, the club's American Hockey League affiliate.

Biggs, the 22nd pick of the 2011 NHL Draft, had 53 points in 60 games with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League last season, and finished his season with one goal in four games with the Marlies. He also got into one AHL playoff game with the Marlies.

Blacker, a 2009 second-round pick (No. 58), had 11 points and a minus-4 rating in 61 games with the Marlies last season, and one assist and a plus-2 rating in four AHL playoff games.

Quote of the Day

He's a winner. We want winners here, and he's a proven winner. He's won two Stanley Cups. He's 22 years old and been a big part of it. He's got all the right tools. He's got size (6-foot-1, 204 pounds) and strength. He's exactly what we were looking for. He's going to be a big piece of our team for many, many years to come.
