Avalanche send seven to AHL

The Colorado Avalanche on Monday shifted seven players from their main training camp to the team's American Hockey League camp.

Sent to the Lake Erie Monsters were forwards Trevor Cheek and Gabriel Desjardins; defensemen Daniel Maggio, Lee Moffie and Mikael Tam; and goaltenders Kieran Millan and Kent Patterson.

In addition, injured forwards Joey Hishon, the team's 2010 first-round draft pick (No. 17) and David Van Der Gulik, will be assigned to Lake Erie when healthy.

The Avalanche also returned three players to their junior teams: forwards Joseph Blandisi (Ottawa, Ontario Hockey League) and Michael Clarke (Peterborough, OHL), and defenseman Dillon Donnelly (Quebec, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League).
