PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers held their first on-ice session of training camp Thursday minus one player from their announced roster.

Forward Daniel Cleary, previously announced as a camp invite on a professional tryout, is not with the team.

A Flyers spokesman said the team had no comment.

The Detroit Free Press reported Thursday that Cleary still was in Detroit, in hopes of working out a deal to remain with the Detroit Red Wings, the team he had spent the previous eight seasons with.

For me, it's a great win for our hockey team and for a lot of people back in Columbus, especially our fans in particular … people who have been devoted to this organization, it's big.
