Kobasew attending Penguins camp

The Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday announced free-agent forward Chuck Kobasew will attend the team's training camp on a professional tryout.

Kobasew, 31, had five goals and four assists in 37 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season.

A 10-season veteran, Kobasew has 108 goals and 100 assists in 568 games with the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Avalanche.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma told reporters on the first day of training camp Wednesday that Kobasew will have a chance to compete for a spot among the bottom six forwards. Pittsburgh is looking for replacements for Matt Cooke, who left as a free agent, and Tyler Kennedy, who was traded to San Jose, on the third line.
