USA Blue, Finland tied after first period

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- USA Blue and Finland finished the first period of their game at Herb Brooks Arena tied 1-1.

A pair of Washington Capitals prospects opened the scoring for USA Blue. Riley Barber made a beautiful cross-ice pass through the slot to a cutting Conner Carrick, who finished the play at 5:16.

The lead didn't last long, however. Finland's Teuvo Teravainen finished a nice passing play with Artturi Lehkonen and Olli Maatta by tapping in a puck in the crease at 7:13 to make it 1-1.

Back with more after the second period.

Quote of the Day

I first met him when I was 19 years old and he coached me for 13 consecutive years. I don't know how many athletes who have had that pleasure. Al Arbour was a man that left us not only feeling like champions, but left us with a lot of great memories that we can carry on through life.
