Prospects review the prospects

WEEHAWKEN, N.J. -- A few of the top prospects for the 2013 NHL Draft took part in a media event along the Hudson River on Friday, posing for pictures and having a good time.

It wasn't always this way. Darnell Nurse's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds faced Sean Monahan's Ottawa 67's twice in the Ontario Hockey League, and Hunter Shinkaruk's Medicine Hat Tigers played Seth Jones' Portland Winterhawks once in the Western Hockey League.

Rivalries on the ice, however, led to respect, and each prospect had only good things to say about his counterpart:

Nurse on Monahan: "He's one of the best two-way centers in our league. He does it day in and day out. He played on a team this year that wasn't that great and he was able to shine on a nightly basis. That's tough. … When you look at guys in their draft year in our league, he was probably the hardest to play against."

Monahan on Nurse: "He's big and he's a smart and tough player. He's tough to play against. He's got a lot of potential. A team would be lucky to get him."

Shinkaruk on Jones: "I think Seth has a pretty unique skill set. He's a really big kid, obviously. He skates well, he has good hands. He's a kid that can step into the League next year and be an impact player."

Jones on Shinkaruk: "He's so shifty, so skilled with the puck. His hands are phenomenal. We played them once this year and unfortunately he got hurt a minute into the game. And unfortunately I did it. … He's spectacular. Very poised with the puck, great passer, has great vision."
