NEWARK, N.J. -- Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken where TLC's "Cake Boss" is filmed, is prepared to unveil a special treat Sunday prior to the start of the NHL Draft at Prudential Center (3 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN).

Valastro, known as Buddy to those familiar with the reality television show, said a life-sized cake will be a part of the pre-draft festivities. Though he wouldn't reveal details of its look or shape, he did admit it is the second hockey cake they have done on "Cake Boss," and the biggest.

"We're doing a really cool cake for the draft and I think they're going to love it," Valastro said. "They are going to unveil it between 2 and 3 o'clock. Sorry, but I can't say too much more about it."

The building of the cake and highlights of its unveiling at the draft are being filmed now and will debut on "Cake Boss" in September.

While filming for his television show, Valastro was forced to put on skates and get on the ice with four of the top 2013 draft-eligible prospects: Halifax Mooseheads forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin, Portland Winterhawks defenseman Seth Jones and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defenseman Darnell Nurse.

"Where is the cake?" Nurse asked when told what was happening. "I watch that show all the time. It was fun to be a part of the show and see guys like that get on the ice with us who are on TV and mess around with them. You see the stuff he makes and you want to go down the street to the bakery to get something. I could use a little something right now in fact."

Valastro, who struggled to remain upright on his skates during his spot with the prospects, said he has a lot of respect for hockey players.

"That kid, Seth Jones, was really good," he said. "He had a laser of a shot. Every time that puck came off his stick, you heard the sound poom-poom-poom. I don't want to be a goalie blocking that, that's for sure.

"But I'm sure they will all have great careers," he continued. "People don't realize, but hockey takes a real toll on the body. You have to be in shape and it's rough and tough with all the checking. After going on the ice a little bit, I have a little more admiration for those players and for what they do. It's definitely one of the toughest sports out there."

Jones and MacKinnon weren't familiar with "Cake Boss" but said they will begin watching the show.

"I had to look it up, I'll be honest," Jones said. "I'll have to start following the show. I'll have a piece of that cake, I hope, on Sunday."

MacKinnon said, "I've never heard of the show, but I know he has something like a billion viewers so I'll have to check that out. I have sweet tooth … my favorite thing is cookie dough ice cream. I love it when mom has that for us."
