Bruins get Seidenberg back

BOSTON -- Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg returned to the lineup for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Rangers Saturday at TD Garden.

The Bruins took a 3-1 series lead into the potential closeout game.

Seidenberg was injured on his first shift of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Toronto Maple Leafs on May 13. He was unable to continue after he tried to take a second shift.

Seidenberg, who started skating with the team about a week ago, ranked second on the Bruins in average minutes per game and led the team in blocked shots during the regular season. In his first seven playoff games, he recorded one assist and an even plus/minus rating.

Rookie Dougie Hamilton, who has three assists in seven postseason games, was scratched to make room for Seidenberg.

Quote of the Day

He seemed to thrive on his own and didn't really need any push from me. I certainly don't want to get in the way of the coaches. You see how that goes sometimes. I never really worried about it and just enjoyed the ride.
