Richards, Asham out; Haley, Newbury in for Rangers

NEW YORK -- Facing elimination in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, New York Rangers coach John Tortorella decided to sacrifice 165 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience from his forward group for one.

Micheal Haley and Kris Newbury replaced Brad Richards and Arron Asham in the Rangers lineup Thursday night against the Boston Bruins, who have a 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference Semifinal series.

Newbury played Game 1 of the first round against the Washington Capitals but was a healthy scratch for the past nine games. Haley is making his Stanley Cup Playoff debut. They are expected to skate on the fourth line with Derek Dorsett.

Richards was centering the fourth line in between Chris Kreider and Asham; Kreider remains in the lineup and has been bumped up to the second line to start the game.

Defenseman Roman Hamrlik, who has 111 games of playoff experience, is replacing injured Anton Stralman, who is missing his first game of this postseason. Hamrlik was to start the game paired with John Moore.

They have never played together as teammates, but Moore said they live in the same building and ride to and from the team's practice facility together.

Here was the Rangers' lineup based on pregame warm-ups:

Carl Hagelin - Derek Stepan - Ryan Callahan

Chris Kreider - Derick Brassard - Rick Nash

Taylor Pyatt - Brian Boyle - Mats Zuccarello

Micheal Haley - Kris Newbury - Derek Dorsett

Michael Del Zotto - Dan Girardi

Ryan McDonagh - Steve Eminger

Roman Hamrlik - John Moore

Henrik Lundqvist
