San Jose Sharks forward Martin Havlat said Friday it's possible he could return to the lineup for Game 3 against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday (9 p.m. ET, NBCSN, RDS, TSN).

"Getting better. We'll see how it goes tomorrow morning," Havlat said, according to CSN Bay Area. "We'll see. Like I said, we’ll see how it feels tomorrow. It's getting closer and closer."

The Sharks trail the best-of-7 Western Conference Semifinal 2-0 after squandering a 3-2 lead in the final two minutes of Game 2 at Staples Center, losing 4-3 on two Kings power-play goals 22 seconds apart.

"That's Marty, mother nature and the trainer's decision," coach Todd McLellan said of Havlat's possible return for the game at HP Pavilion. "I can't speed any of those up as a coach. I hope that one day soon that he comes knocking on my door and tells me that he's ready to go, because we could sure use him."

Havlat has not played since sustaining a lower-body injury in the first period of Game 1 of the first-round against the Vancouver Canucks, a series the Sharks finished in four games.

"When I come back, I want to be able to help the team and not the other way around," the top-six wing said. "That's very important for me. We're down 2-0, now we've got to win tomorrow. It's another big game. … We'll see how it goes tomorrow."

Minor leaguer Bracken Kearns and rarely used Tim Kennedy have filled in for Havlat and Adam Burish, who broke his hand in the first-round series-clincher. Burish was ruled out for this series but said Friday he could return sooner.

"We'd love to have those [injured] players back. But we feel good about the game that Bracken has given us, and [Kennedy] going into the lineup and being able to provide us with minutes that way," McLellan said. "That's why we're a team. That's why teams try and create depth, for these moments. There have been teams that have rallied around injuries and come on and played well. We'd like to think we can be one of them."

The Sharks also are without forward Raffi Torres, who was suspended for the remainder of the series Thursday by the NHL for an illegal hit he delivered to Kings center Jarret Stoll in Game 1.
