Clowe continuing to improve; Powe misses practice

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- New York Rangers forward Ryane Clowe finally got to test himself in some battle drills Tuesday afternoon and said he felt good, but there is still no indication if he is going to play in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

Clowe has been practicing since last Friday but has missed the past four games dating to the regular season with an undisclosed injury.

"I was hopeful for Game 2, but that's just how I think," Clowe said. "Sometimes you've gotta be smart when you've got an injury, you don't want to push it. If you asked around to people who know me, I don't like missing games, and if it's an opportunity to play I'm going to play.

"I'm not holding out here or anything or trying to save it. There is nothing to save for this time of year," he continued. "But I don't want to end up playing a period or a few shifts and then something happens and you're out again. I want to make sure I'm in, I'm all in when I do go in. I'd like to be able to tell you guys more, but it's just day-to-day how I feel. I did some battle stuff today and I felt pretty good."

There could be an opening in the lineup for Clowe in Game 4. Darroll Powe did not practice Tuesday after suffering an undisclosed injury just over eight minutes into the first period of Game 3 on Monday.

Powe fell awkwardly after attempting to hit Joel Ward along the boards. Powe never returned to the game and the Rangers have not provided an update on his status.
