9. Rick Nash, Columbus, W (Team Staal)
10. Tim Thomas, Boston, G (Team Lidstrom)

Just after Duthie finished lauding Nash, one of the better performers in recent All-Star Game history, Team Staal listened and went with the Blue Jackets center. Green made the pick for Team Staal and swears they had this pick made before Duthie went through his convincing diatribe about Nash.

Team Lidstrom finally has a goalie in the fifth round. It also has the best in the NHL so far this season. Thomas, picked by fellow Vermont Catamount Marty St. Louis, is the second goalie off the board behind Ward. Each team will have to use two of their next five picks on goalies.
Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
