Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis spoke with the agent for Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff on Monday and likely will speak directly to Kiprusoff on Tuesday, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.
This comes on the heels of multiple outlets reporting Monday that the Maple Leafs were granted permission by the Flames to speak to Kiprusoff, who is likely to be dealt before the NHL Trade Deadline passes Wednesday.
Though no deal is in place, one could be worked together quickly with Kiprusoff’s blessing.
In 18 games this season, the 36-year-old is 6-9-0 with a 3.64 goals-against average and .868 save percentage.
