Avalanche place Stastny, Hejduk on injured reserve

The Colorado Avalanche on Monday placed forwards Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk on injured reserve and recalled David Van Der Gulik and Brad Malone from their American Hockey League affiliate, Lake Erie.

Hejduk suffered an apparent shoulder injury in Colorado's 1-0 overtime loss to Nashville on Saturday, while Stastny has been out since March 24 with a foot injury.

The Avalanche head into Monday night's game in Detroit sitting 15th in the Western Conference with 28 points, nine behind the eighth-place Columbus Blue Jackets.

Quote of the Day

It's about enjoying the moment. It's pretty cool to get that many people together and that excited about hockey to the point they really want you to mess up. They've got a ton of red jerseys and you have to sit back and appreciate people love hockey that much and you are the one out there who gets to play the game. Just try and stick with that respect for the game and also the mentality that for me it's just about entering the fight and seeing how long I can stay in it.
