Blue Jackets activate Wisniewski; Dubinsky to IR

The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday activated defenseman James Wisniewski off injured reserve and placed forward Brandon Dubinsky on IR retroactive to March 22.

The Blue Jackets will face off against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday at Rexall Place.

Wisniewski has missed the past 14 games while recovering from a broken foot sustained Feb. 24 at United Center against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Wisniewski has three goals and nine points in 15 games this season. The 6-foot, 208-pound defender led the Blue Jackets with three power play goals and ranked fifth on the club in points at the time of his injury.

Dubinsky is dealing with a lower-body injury that has sidelined him the past three games. The 26-year-old forward has one goal, nine points and 38 hits in 19 games with Columbus this season. He also missed 11 games between Feb. 18 and March 10 with a knee injury.

Quote of the Day

I feel that responsibility, I've felt it for the last two years. We core guys get a lot of minutes, we get a lot of opportunity out there. Our teammates, the organization and fans look to us to be the guys to put the puck in the net and to create momentum out there.
