Zuccarello signs, joins Rangers in Ottawa

The New York Rangers on Thursday put the finishing touches on the signing of Norwegian forward Mats Zuccarello.

According to sources, Zuccarello's deal is for a pro-rated $700,000 over the remainder of the NHl season. Zuccarello is with the team Thursday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

The 5-foot-7, 161-pound wing produced 11 goals, 28 points and a plus-5 rating in 44 games for Magnitogorsk Metallurg in the Kontinental Hockey League this season. He played 42 games with the Rangers in 2010-11, posting six goals and 23 points, and 10 more games the following season when he compiled two goals and three points.

Born in Oslo, Norway, he was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Rangers in May 2010. He's spent 73 games with the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Connecticut Whale, posting 25 goals, 65 points and a plus-7 rating.

Quote of the Day

If you want to prove people wrong, you've just got to go out and do it. Yeah, we blew 3-2 series leads the last two years, but no one is going remember that if we go out there on Saturday night and beat these guys and go play in the Stanley Cup Final. We need to get back to work and we'll start to do that tomorrow.
