Though the Calgary Flames have the right to trade Miikka Kiprusoff to any team they choose prior to next Wednesday's deadline, the goaltender apparently isn't prepared to play elsewhere.
Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reported via Twitter on Tuesday that Kiprusoff won't report to any team he's dealt to due to family reasons. The 36-year-old does not have a no-trade clause.
Kiprusoff became a father to a baby boy last week, his second child.
"I try to keep it simple, still. I try to help team here," Kiprusoff told the Calgary Herald. "Try to win games.
"Everything else is out of my control. So there's no reason to think about it. At all. It's NHL. Every year, it's the same talk. A part of the game. My name is out there too.
"But I can't worry about it too much."
Kiprusoff is a $5.83 million salary-cap hit through next season.
