Report: Lupul to play for Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul will return to action Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets after missing 25 games with a broken arm, TSN reports.

"It's not like it was before it was broken, but it's at a point where the doctor thinks it's safe to play," Lupul told TSN on Friday after his third practice.

"I've been shooting and practicing for probably a week now so the next test is to go out for a game. They've asked me what I felt and I said I felt confident that it's strong enough and so do they. I'm not going to think about it at all."

Lupul is projected to skate on a lie with Nazem Kadri and Nikolai Kulemin.

"It's a huge game against Winnipeg," Lupul said. "The team's looking forward to it and I want to be out there."

Lupul suffered the injury in Toronto's third game of the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was standing in front of the net when defenseman Dion Phaneuf hammered a shot that hit Lupul directly in the arm.

Lupul had a career-high 67 points in 66 games last season.

Ben Scrivens will start in goal.

Here are the expected line combinations for the Maple Leafs, as projected by TSN:

James van Riemsdyk - Tyler Bozak - Phil Kessel

Clarke MacArthur - Mikhail Grabovski - Matt Frattin

Joffrey Lupul - Nazem Kadri - Nikolai Kulemin

Leo Komarov - Jay McClement - Colton Orr

Dion Phaneuf - Korbinian Holzer

Carl Gunnarsson - John-Michael Liles

Mark Fraser - Cody Franson

Ben Scrivens

James Reimer
