Wild activate Clutterbuck, make goalie moves

Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck was activated off injured reserve Friday, and the club placed goaltender Darcy Kuemper on IR and recalled goalie Matt Hackett from its American Hockey League affiliate in Houston.

Clutterbuck hasn't played since being injured in a Feb. 21 game against the Edmonton Oilers, on a play in which Oilers forward Taylor Hall received a kneeing major and game misconduct and later was suspended for two games.

Clutterbuck has two goals and four points in 16 games this season.

Kuemper, 22, was recalled when Josh Harding had to be placed on IR due to symptoms from multiple sclerosis and made his NHL debut Feb. 12 at the Vancouver Canucks. In four games (three starts), he is 1-2-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

Hackett, 23, played in 12 games for the Wild last season, going 3-6-0 with a 2.38 GAA and .922 save percentage. In 42 AHL games, he is 19-19-3, with a 2.56 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
