Richards out again with back, neck tightness

New York Rangers center Brad Richards will miss his second straight game Thursday night.

Richards was driven into the boards by Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta on Sunday night, a hit that resulted in Kaleta receiving a game misconduct and five-game suspension from the NHL.

Richards returned to that game, but he did not play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday and will sit against the New York Islanders on Thursday.

Richards told reporters at Nassau Coliseum he has back and neck tightness but no concussion.

"It's not a long-term thing," Richards said. "I just gotta let the body regroup a little bit."

The Rangers' next game is at home Friday against the Ottawa Senators.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
