Rangers sign Nicholls

The New York Rangers announced Tuesday the club has signed free-agent forward Josh Nicholls.

Playing with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League this season, Nicholls, 20, is tied for fifth in the WHL with 41 goals, and he has 73 points in 65 games.

Chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the seventh round of the 2010 NHL Draft, he became an unrestricted free agent when he declined to sign with them, and then went unselected in the 2012 draft.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
