Flames recall McGrattan, assign Aliu

The Calgary Flames announced Friday they have recalled right wing Brian McGrattan from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League and reassigned Akim Aliu.

The Flames acquired McGrattan a day earlier from the Nashville Predators in exchange for Joe Piskula. McGrattan has played two games with the Predators and six games with the Milwaukee Admirals (American Hockey League) this season.

This will be McGrattan's second time suiting up for the Flames after playing for Calgary during the 2009-10 season when he had one goal and three assists along with 86 penalty minutes in 34 games and was a plus-3.

Aliu played two games for the Flames on his call-up and registered 10 penalty minutes.

Quote of the Day

You get the right the whistles at the right times, you can leave him out there. He's a beast when it comes to being on the ice. I thought [Saturday] he was a big man. That first period, he did that lateral cut and it was like three bowling pins bounced off him. There's not too many guys that can do that.
