Wisniewski out 'extended period' with broken foot

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Tuesday that defenseman James Wisniewski would be sidelined an extended amount of time after breaking a bone in his foot.

Jackets coach Todd Richards informed reporters of the injury Tuesday morning. According to the coach, Wisniewski sustained the injury during Sunday's loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. There is no timetable on his return, but Richards did say that Wisniewski would be out "an extended period of time."

In 15 games this season, Wisniewski has three goals, nine points, 25 hits and 17 blocked shots.

The Blue Jackets also are without defenseman Jack Johnson at least another week with a right shoulder injury. Johnson and Wisniewski opened the season as the Blue Jackets' top defensive pair.

Monday, the Jackets recalled defenseman Cody Goloubef from the team's minor-league affiliate in Springfield. He'll be in the lineup Tuesday when Columbus plays host to the Dallas Stars at Nationwide Arena. Goloubef was paired with John Moore during the team's morning skate Tuesday.

"Cody's come up and he's done a good job," Richards told Aaron Portzline of the The Columbus Dispatch. "He'll have to fill in, and we trust that he can, based on his last experience here."
