Statuses of Nash, McDonagh uncertain for Tuesday

In terms of injuries, it was mixed bag at New York Rangers practice Monday.

Rick Nash (undisclosed) remained absent and looks like a poor bet to be in the lineup against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Nash hasn't played since Feb. 17 against the Washington Capitals, when he was a game-time decision with the same unrevealed ailment.

It appears Ryan McDonagh (head) could be absent Tuesday as well, as the defenseman did not practice after leaving Saturday's 3-0 loss after being driven into the board and glass from behind by Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty.

Rangers coach John Tortorella said he was "not sure" about Nash and McDonagh's availability against the Jets.

Forward Arron Asham (back spasms) did not practice and has missed the past two games.

The good news for the Rangers is defenseman Dan Girardi practiced after taking a rocket of a slap shot by P.K. Subban off his right foot and leaving late against the Canadiens. Fellow blueliner Michael Del Zotto (lower body) also practiced after missing the Canadiens game with an injury he suffered Thursday against the Ottawa Senators.

Darroll Powe, who left the game against the Capitals with a concussion, also practiced and is ready to return.

To make room on the roster, rookie Christian Thomas was reassigned to Connecticut of the AHL. The 20-year-old played in just one game, registering two shots in 12:46 of ice time against Montreal.
