Brodeur out with soreness for Devils

NEWARK, N.J. -- Martin Brodeur was supposed to start for the New Jersey Devils on Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets, but Johan Hedberg is getting the call instead. Hedberg will start for the second time in as many days.

Brodeur left the ice early during warmups and did not return. A team spokesman said Brodeur has "a little soreness, will be re-evaluated tomorrow."

Hedberg gave up five goals on 26 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

More to come.

Quote of the Day

For six months, it's a really good accomplishment. But as soon as April [11, the end of the regular season] comes around, no one thinks about the regular season anymore. For six months, it's a real battle to get into the playoffs in the NHL these days. There are a lot of good teams, and it takes consistency over a long time.
