Landeskog expecting to practice Friday

DENVER -- Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, last season's Calder Trophy winner, skated for the sixth consecutive day Wednesday. He is expected to practice Friday -- the Avalanche aren't practicing Thursday -- and he might accompany the team on a three-game trip that begins Saturday at the Los Angeles Kings.

Landeskog will miss his 11th consecutive game Wednesday night since suffering head and leg injuries Jan. 26 on a hit by San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart.

"It's been feeling better and better," Landeskog said in his first public comments since getting hurt. "The hands aren't quite there yet, the feet aren't quite there yet and my lungs aren't quite there yet, but I'm working on it."

Landeskog, who blames himself for the injuries because he had his head down before the hit, said his concussion symptoms have gradually subsided.

"My memory is fine, dizziness is fine, no nausea and that kind of stuff," he said. "Also light sensitivity and some headache and pressure on the head, but I'm feeling a lot better now."
