Coyotes shake up lines in order to find offense

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Columbus Blue Jackets lost center Artem Anisimov early in the second period of Friday’s 2-1 loss at the Los Angeles Kings, but coach Todd Richards said the injury was just a bruise. Anisimov was walking without a limp and without a boot after the game and may be able to play Saturday.

Defenseman James Wisniewski remains away from the team to be with his wife for the birth of their daughter. Steve Mason is expected to be in the net tonight.

For the Phoenix Coyotes, Derek Morris is day-to-day with an upper-body injury he aggravated in the first period of Thursday’s 3-0 loss at the Nashville Predators. Coach Dave Tippett said center Matthew Lombardi, out since the second week of the season, could be ready to go as early as Monday against the Calgary Flames.

Mikkel Boedker and Steve Sullivan will flip lines tonight in an attempt to shake up the chemistry of an offense that was 0-for-12 on the power play over a three-game road trip in which they notched three goals, all of which were scored in a 3-2 overtime win at the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night. Paul Bissonnette will play with Nick Johnson getting scratched.

Captain Shane Doan needs one goal to tie former teammate and captain Keith Tkachuk for second place on the all-time franchise list at 323. Dale Hawerchuk is the franchise's all-time leader at 379.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
